Considered one of the leading figures in Italian design in recent decades, Michele De Lucchi was born in 1951 and graduated from the University of Florence. In 1990, he founded Produzione Privata, his artisan workshop, where he came up with many innovative design solutions over the years.

A two-time winner of the Compasso d’Oro award, De Lucchi is responsible for a variety of projects including two EXPO 2015 pavilions, the wind pavilion at the Milan Triennale, the Peace Bridge in Tbilisi, the NTT headquarters in Japan and Deutsche Bank building design. In 2006, he was awarded an honorary degree from Kingston University and since 2008, he has been a lecturer in design at the Politecnico di Milano. In 2019, he founded and headed AMDL, a globally recognised architecture and design company.
