the Lady of Design
Universally described as “the Lady of Design”, Cini Boeri was born in Milan in 1924. After completing her architectural studies, she trained with Marco Zanuso and then worked for almost twelve years with the renowned architect, Gio Ponti. The Cini Boeri Studio, a well-established and internationally recognised business, was founded in 1963.
She won the Compasso d’Oro with the Strips sofa and other important awards throughout her career such as the Roscoe award twice, the Saiedue award, Stuttgart Design award and IIC lifetime achievement award – Los Angeles.
The works she has designed over the years are part of permanent exhibitions at MoMa in New York, MAD in Paris and the Milan Triennale. She also lectures at the world’s leading academic institutions including the University of Berkeley, the College of Architects in Rio de Janeiro, the Southern California Institute of Architecture and the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.
